If you hit the Print Screen key under DOS, a copy of the screen would be sent to the printer. Can you do this under Windows?

Yes you can, but it requires a couple of extra steps. To capture the whole screen hit Print Screen. To capture just the active window or dialog box, hold down the Alt key while you press Print Screen. In each case, this copies the screen or window to the Clipboard, not the printer.
Now launch the Paint accessory (Start, Programs, Accessories, Paint) and select Edit, Paste. If Paint tells you that the image in the Clipboard is larger than the bitmap and asks if you want to enlarge the bitmap to fit the image, answer Yes. Now you can see the image you captured. To print it, select File, Print.
If you have another bitmap editing program, such as Paint Shop Pro, you can paste the captured image into that application instead. However, many bitmap editing programs (including Paint Shop Pro) have their own screen capture facilities. If you do a lot of screen captures, it can save time to use this feature instead.
